Located just 8 km from Siena, the city of the Palio, and 35 km from Florence, the farmhouse boasts a strategic location, being in the heart of Tuscany, close to the most renowned artistic and cultural destinations of the entire region.
To get to the Mulino di Quercegrossa, one travels along the old Via Chiantigiana, which, before the construction of the superhighway, was the only road leading to Florence, crossing the hills of the Sienese and Florentine Chianti. Along that route, therefore, are the major wineries and oil mills of Chianti, many of which make direct sales and offer tastings of their typical products, such as wine and oil.
From here you can easily reach Monteriggioni, famous for its city walls mentioned by Dante in the Divine Comedy, with its medieval festival held every summer in July. Then continuing northwest we find San Gimignano, a true jewel of medieval architecture, and Volterra, an Etruscan town famous for its production of alabaster and its "balze." Toward the south, it is possible to visit Montalcino, known for its Brunello, Pienza, the Val d'Orcia and the very famous Crete Senesi, the Abbey of Monte Oliveto, Sant'Antimo and San Galgano, where the famous sword in the stone can be seen. The surrounding area is also home to castles and medieval villages scattered throughout Chianti, such as Brolio Castle, San Polo Castle, Castellina in Chianti, Gaiole, Greve in Chianti and Castelnuovo Berardenga.
